  1. Matthew 15:8-9, where Jesus is quoting Isa 29:13, "These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 9 Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God."
Matthew West's song Motions sums up the prayer/attitude that Jesus was driving home. That we shouldn't be willing to accept just going through the motions of being a Christian. God does not want our lip service, He's not looking for just our praises, He's not an earthly boss looking for someone to be a yes-man, He wants our hearts, He wants a relationship with us. He wants to be our Father, and for us to be His children.

In Matt 15:21-28, where the Gentile woman had that deep inner fire, that driving passion, that causes our own faith to grow, and could provide an example for others faith to grow also. That's the kind of passion we should be striving for. Again to quote Matthew West's Motions... "I don't wanna go through the motions
I don't wanna go one more day
without Your all consuming passion inside of me
I don't wanna spend my whole life asking,
"What if I had given everything,
instead of going through the motions?"
